Soulmates John and Dorothy Overton celebrate their golden wedding anniversary at the
end of July, 2010. They married at St Anne's in 1960, had three sons and have been part of the Merrylands/Greystanes community since. John, 72, commented that he didn't feel any different to when he was 21 and Dorothy, 70, said their relationship was based on understanding. Soulmates. John is grateful to still be enjoying married life “It’s very good, because at one stage I didn’t think I’d get this (50 years) with my medical problems,” he said.
As GSC's first secretary, John helped establish Greystanes Soccer Club 40 years ago and the year 2000 was awarded an Australian Sports Medal for outstanding involvement for over 25 years service (pictured in 2010).
